Iran Khodro car workers protest the sacking of tens of their colleagues
A group of Iran Khodro workers have issued the following leaflets:
Friends and Colleagues
According to our information from
various sections of the car plant, during the first days of the new
Iranian year tens of our colleagues have lost their jobs, joining
millions of unemployed workers.
These reports indicate that Iran
Khodro managers have sacked workers I many sections of the plant
claiming 'modernisation of production' and replacing the work force
with machinery.
300 contract workers have been sacked
by the management.
Rajabali Shahssavari, a spokesperson for temporary and contract workers in Iran, has told the paper 'Dastranj': tens of workers in Iran Khodro have lost their jobs following management policies to 'modernise production' and replace workers with machines.” he added:” unfortunately 'modernisation' of factories in our country is taking place at a time when no one has paid any attention to the plight of workers made redundant as a result of this so called modernisation.
Sacking
of workers in ISAKO
In the last few days 50 contract
workers in Isako, Iran Khodro, have been sacked despite taking their
protests to various authorities including the Labour offices.
In addition we hear that around 100
workers from the Press company, Iran Khodro, have been sacked as a
result of a reduction in working hours and the reduction of the work
of an entire shift.
Fellow
workers
We believe these sackings area direct
result of the work of contract companies and the continuation of the
policies encouraging temporary contract work. Policies that allow
managers to sack workers with any excuse and we condemn these
policies . We demand an end to contract work and we demand that our
colleagues are given their jobs back.
