Statement of ORWI (rahe kargar)
On execution of 5 political prisoners
Five political prisoners, Farzad Kamangar , Ali Heidarian,Farhad Vakili,Shirin Alam hooli and Mehdi Islamian were hung at Tehran's notorious Evin prison , on dawn of Sunday May 9th 2010. The judges reached their verdict under pressure from security forces and the absence of prisoners’ attorneys . These horrible crimes were committed at a time when vast international campaigns were under way to halt the execution.
Iran's Islamic regime commits such criminal executions in order to terrify the Iranian people in their struggle against religious despotism. As four of five executed prisoners are from the impoverished province of Kurdistan, we can conclude the Islamic regime is trying to halt the Kurdish peoples efforts to join the nationwide movement against the regime .But with these kind of actions they only deepen the hatred and anger, and leave a deep scar among Kurdish people. The Islamic republic has faced a widespread movement in the last 11 months, shaking its foundations. Fear of a dark future has frightened the ruling classes. On the verge of the anniversaries of 2009 mass protests which followed the announcement of the results of presidential campaign, the Islamic regime committed this crime to terrify the people and discourage them of joining the revolutionary movement.
This horrible crime is a sign of the regime fear of the spread of the movement .It is worried that after the coming to effect of neo liberal policies , “targeting subsides” and the deepening economic crisis, at a time of international sanctions and boycott, the protest movement can gather momentum and reach uncontrollable levels. They are afraid of political activists and the vanguard. They have resumed the “hejab & efaf “plan .Based on this plan special units punish young women and men who have violated Islamic dress codes .Execution of political prisoners and emergence of repressive units are signs of regime’s worry .They try to prevent the solidarity between various sections of society. Iran's Islamic regime knows that solidarity between the young people and national minorities, solidarity with labor and the women’s movements will bring the Islamic regime to his knees.
Our brave people who did not fear the crimes committed by the regime's jailers in the notorious Kahrizak prison, who did not fear the bullets in the streets, who did not fear types tortures and rapes reminiscent of middle ages, will not retreat after the execution of their beloved comrades in Evin prison .This great sorrow will only increase their anger and hate and they will have endless energy to continue until they destroy religious despotism.
Our organization strongly condemns this barbaric crime and sympathizes with the relative of victims.
Our organization during these difficult times invites all the freedom fighters and young brave people to stay with the families and relatives of martyrs and to stop the government’s thugs attempts to intimidate them.
Our organization invites all human rights organizations and activists to condemn Islamic regime and protest against this crime and use any means necessary to stop further executions by Islamic government.
